Triple Struck Flip Over Double Strike 1863 Cincinnati Ohio Civil War Token Error For Sale
Civil War token Fuld OH165GR-2a R10 Unique Major Mint Error VF or better by wear but triple struck or more accurately a double struck flipover double strike. Wright Cincinnati 1863 with 1863 dated Flying Eagle reverse. Wright's regular issue is among the most common of all Civil War Store Cards in worn condition but I believe this is the only major error I have seen offered. This is a new discovery (or rediscovery) example that has been off the market for 40 years or so and is likely what is poorly described in the current Fuld book as OH165GR-2a a seemingly normal obverse struck with 1170 reverse over the obverse die for a reverse. The -2a listing is currently scheduled to come out of the next Store Card book likely due to poor original description and no specimen to examine. However, with this piece now available for inspection perhaps it will be retained or given a new designation of OH165GR-1ao indicating an over strike.
