WHAT IS TU B'SHVAT?
B'shvat is the Jewish New Year for trees. It is celebrated around
springtime (this year on January 25th) with a festive meal using
specifically the fruits that the Land of Israel are praised with in the
Bible (See Deut.8:8), ie Grapes, Dates, Pomegranates, Olives, Wheat,
barley & Figs. The Kabbalists of the 16th Century, specifically
the Ari (Rabbi Yitzchak Luria Ashkenazi of Safad) Hakadosh ordained
specific verses from the Bible to be recited and composed a liturgy
modeled according to the Passover Haggada using also 4 cups of wine,
symbolic for the 4 seasons of the year. Contains 16 pages, Very good
condition, almost new.
