The sun has such a pretty quilt Each night he goes to bed,
It's made of lavendar & gold, With great long stripes of gold & red.
And bordered by the softest tints Of all the shades of gray.
It's put together by the sky, And quilted by the day.
Laura Coates Reed
I hate starting out my listings this way but I have to tell you that the pictures DO NOT by any means, do this lovely quilt justice. I must have photographed it 10 times to get the right colors & I finally gave up &picked the best ones so you will see duplicates & some color variance among the pictures, especially with some of the little tiny stains. Many are in here a couple times under different lighting! This is a beautiful Turkey Red and light beige quilt made in the early 1900's by Mrs. Frank Robuskie of Alliance, Ohio.I have several others of hers listed right now). The pattern name is "True Lover's Knot. It measures 72" x 72" which is a true sizefor quilts made at this time. It is made with 100% cotton & has a thin to medium weight cotton batting with cotton seeds present. The quilt is nice & clean, odor-free with only the slighest of blemishes from age. There's a few little tiny stains here & there, probably from finger pricks. I should mention that the blocks are more beige than the lighter beige sashing ~ just makes the pattern pop out at you more. It's very striking!
The quilting is very recognizable as Mrs. Robuskie's.The borders are much the same in her quilts, almost like a signature for her, with the long feather motifs, hanging diamonds, and friendship wreaths in the corners. She added a bit more to the borders in this quilt. There are Fleur de Lis' quilted in the border's centers. 1" grids are quited in the red patterned blocks. The sashings are quilted with double oak leaves & a double twisted rope design. It looks like the quilt has been laundered once because you can still see the light pencil trace lines for quilting.... 11 spi!
This is a beautiful quilt, much prettier than shown in my horrible pictures! Please take a look at the other quilts & quilt tops I have listed. I'm happy to combine shipping costs for you.

About Me: It all started when I was a little girl.... Gramma gave Mom a piece of Flow Blue that had been passed down in our family, then she would pass it on to me. Gramma knitted, crocheted, & quilted but being a "lefty", I could never get the hang of knitting or crocheting so I learned to quilt & applique. My love of quilts & antiques comes honestly I guess. Iama "collectaholic"so I've had to set new rules for myself... "If I buy one more quilt, one has to be sold". There's just not enough room anymore! Several years ago I decided to leave a 25 year career in Human Resources Management & do something for myself... spend more time with family & friends, garden when this Ohio weather allows, & hunt for quilts, vintage clothing & hats, & other antiques.
