Turkish Ottoman Islamic Sword Yatagan *antique* For Sale
This is a Turkish Ottoman Yataghan sword, which has been used from the mid-16th to late 19th centuries. The sword has been in the attic of a house for the past 35 years. The walrus bone handle is cracked on both sides ( as is everyone of these swords I've seen.) Their is also some mild surface rust on the blade. It was always my understanding to leave the sword in it's original condition.Their seems to be some gold & silver decorations on the sword which I took pictures of. The sheath is unlike any sheath I've seen for these swords. It is extremely ornate & looks to me to be all hand etched. I also took many pictures of the sheath to see the workmanship! The sword is very old but I've not looked into exactly how old. I will say the bone in the handle of this sword looks to be very old!
