Two Georgian / early 19th century sterling silver thimbles, ca 1820. In common with silver thimbles of the era, neither thimble has any identifying marks though both test as sterling silver. Both thimbles are free of holes, dents, damage and repairs though neither is perfectly round at the opening.
The thimble on the left is large (man's size) with plain knurled top over a decorative border of stylised leaves, prick dot vacant cartouche and faceted rim. Not perfectly round but free of holes, dents, damage and repairs. Height approx. 2.9 cm; internal base diameter approx. 1.8 cm; weight 4.6 grams.
The thimble on the right has a plain knurled top and a decorative border of wavy lines. Not perfectly round but free of holes, dents, damage and repairs. Height approx. 2.6 cm; internal base diameter approx. 1.5 cm; weight 3.5 grams.
