TWO Large 19th C. Civil War Era Brass Spring Lancet Bleeders & Cases- US & Eng.:

This is for a pair of unusually large 19th century brass human andveterinarymechanical spring lancet bleeders in their original custom molded cases. One is believed to be English and the other American. Note the subtle differences in size, lever thickness, blade form and connection.

The lancet on the right is approximately 3.50\" Long x 1.25\" wide at its rounded bottom. It fits into the black leather covered, maroon velvet lined case that is 4.0\" Long x 2.25\" wide and 1.0\" thick. The paper label on the bottom of the case is marked \"Bleeder\" and \"7 GBP sign\" suggesting that it is of English origin. The lancet is in excellent condition as is the inside of the case. The leather covering the lid is worn and split along its back edge so it is the velvet lining material that connects to cover to the base of the box. Itretains its original clasp.

The lancet on the left is approximately 4.0\" L x 1.5\" wide at its rounded bottom. It fits into its custom molded wooden box that is covered with brown leather and lined with deep yellow shammy material. The case is 5.0\" Long x 2.40\" wide and 1.0\" thick. On the bottom of the case is a laceration that exposes the underlying wood. There is a rubbed mark on the side of the lever that looks like \"NY\" but it could be from wear. It is believed to be American in origin. The lancet is in excellent working condition and the inside of the case is also very good. This case retains its original wire clasp.
