Two Thimbles Vintage/ Antique Silver:
What we seem to have here are a silvertone (nickel?) working thimble, and a
"too nice to use" (sterling?) thimble....both having belonged to my grandmother
who did her fair share of both hand and machine sewing for her
8 children. They appear to be the same size, which marked inside the
better is an "8."The thimble on the left has no identifying markings and looks
to be silver plate or even just silvertone, maybe nickel-- the bottom rim
is a different metal-- brass? It is heavily scratched up along ONE side
of the outer lower half. The "too nice to use" thimble is heavily marked inside: "U.S.A."--
an outline of a thimble, presumably a logo--and "SBC" ...Simon Brothers?
It has a lovely border of something floral or leaves and berries. This sale is for both thimbles.
