Two Very Old German Small Silver Cups With Street Scene:
Two small silver cups. I believe they are German.Wonderful street scene of people drinking and dancing. The cups looks to have been made from a hammered sheet that was rolled and soldered. They measure about 2 3/4 inches tall and the top is 1 7/8 inches diameter. They were originally engraved with a name which has mostly been polished off.
These have been tested and they are silver. Probably .812. The weights are slightly different but are about 65 grams each for a total of 130 g or 4.5 oz.
There are three hallmarks. The first is a 13 with a textured background. The 13 might be for 13/16 (.812) Loth which was used for silver fineness in Germany before 1886. The center hallmark has mostly been polished out. It could be a face or a flower (Bresleu?). The last hallmark is an MF with the last leg of the M forming part of the F.
