U.s. Lighthouse Service~u.s.l.h.s. Lrg. Dinnerware Platter~brown Leaf`~fine Cond For Sale
Above find photos of a genuine, antique, piece of United States Lighthouse Dinnerware from the late 1800's. Alone, it weighs 5.5 lbs. approximately. It is 19 inches x 13 inches, and rises approximately 2 inches from the table surface to rim. See photos including close up of bottom mark impression, "Greenwood China, Trenton N.J., with what I believe is 1878 just below that mark. There is more under the year, but it is illegible to me." So, that bottom mark was made before the glaze and I assume, firing of the piece. The James Shaw Co. was a manufacturer of Steamship China back in these days. There is reference on the WEB referring to their manufacture of China that was used on the Titanic. However, the bottom impression of The Greenwood China, Trenton N.J., I believe takes a precedence over the Shaw mark since I have found that same mark shown on other pieces of U.S. Lighthouse Service. Feel free to use the question option to contact me regarding this piece. Thanks for the visit!
