UNION PHONOGRAPH SHOW EARLY ADMISSION TICKETS
You are offerding on one early admission ticket to the world’s largest Antique Phonograph and Music Box Show held on June 8th & 9th 2013 in Union Illinois. This is the 38th annual show. It’s the oldest and by far the largest. Friday June 7th is dealer setup day. These tickets sell for $40 each. This ticket will get you on the floor with the dealers during setup. If you’ve been here on setup day before, you know what it is all about. It’s wild. We have commodity brokers who attend who tell us it’s like being on the trading floor. There is electricity in the air and a deal around every corner. Coming out of trunks of cars and backs of trucks will be some of the rarest and finest phonographs and music boxes in existence. Hundreds of them. This show is so important that people drive across the country and fly from around the globe to attend. They fly into Chicago’s O’Hare airport from England, Korea, Australia, Belgium, France, and rent limos. Walking down the aisles of booths jammed packed with top quality merchandise, one might think they are in a foreign marketplace. It is not unusual to hear Japanese, Dutch, French, German, Korean, and even Thai being spoken within a few feet of each other. Many dealers even have their business cards printed in several different languages. If you are a serious collector looking for investment quality machines, you must attend. If you are a dealer who needs parts to complete machines, you must attend. If you are looking for rare and early recordings, you must attend. While other shows are falling apart and going downhill, the Union show keeps growing. There is something about the camaraderie that takes place that makes people keep coming. All the important collectors attend. Anyone who is anyone in the phonograph and music box field is here. You get to meet people you have only heard stories about and find out that they are real, down to earth people, telling stories, sharing a laugh, making new friends. It’s like everyone is family. There is no such thing as an outsider here. Everyone is friendly and free with their knowledge and willing to help you out. Other items at the show for sale include thousands of cylinder and disc records, vintage radios, roller organs, advertising, and books about the hobby. The last several years have also seen a growing interest in items of early invention and technology at the show. Thomas Edison was the world’s greatest inventor with over 1,000 patents to his name. It only makes sense that there is a crossover interest. We encourage dealers to bring along items of invention that fit the theme of the late 19th and early 20th century technology which includes telegraphy, incandescent lighting, motion pictures, and telephones, to name a few. One never knows what will turn up here.
When the weekend’s events are over and everyone is heading back home exhausted, you really realize what an event the Union show really is. There is nothing like it. For more information on the show go to WildWestTown dot com and click on the Phonograph Show. There is also discount hotel information online. See you at the show!
