Unique Chinese Carved Rosewood Frame With Jade Buckle Or Pendant A Must See For Sale
Wonderful Estate sale find, even if a leg is missing!
An Antique Chinese intricately carved Rosewood frame/screen, fits into a carved, matching stand, with a carved Jade buckle/pendant from the late 19th century.
The frame is decorated with 2 bats, one in the center of the frame and the other at the base. Chinese calligraphy to the right and left side of this frame. Beautiful carvings within the frame. The stand is beautifully carved.
The jade piece has a large Buddha like figure in the center, to the left and to the right of this figure are 4, smaller figures carved into the jade. The back of this piece is smooth, no carvings so it can sit smoothly on the wooden backing.
The frame was built for this buckle, it actually comes out and can be used in any other setting. When the buckle is together, the separation of the 2 pieces is almost seamless. The central figure is a Buddha and the part that joins both pieces is his belly.
The stand for the frame is broken in one area, no piece provided.
Somehow, somewhere...someone might be able to replicate the missing foot. I will provide the Lucite stand.
The actual frame is. 4 ¾” high by 5” wide.
The stand is 3 ¼” high by 5 ½” long.
The jade piece is 2 5/8” at the widest, 2 ¼” high.
