The .45 pistol was developed for the US Army in 1911 after the .38 failed to stop charging Moro warriors in the Philippines. The US Army issued the powerful .45 during WW1 and WW2, and a khaki belt pouch was developed to carry two additional mags. ThisUS Army USMC Marine WW1 WW2 COLT 1911 .45 PISTOL MILLS KHAKI AMMO POUCH is in excellent condition, with a few small surface nicks at the middle flap, some dark patina to the attachment snap at the back belt slide, some light fading and soiling to the patent stamping at the underside of the flap, and with some light scattered age wear evident (ALL pictured). Otherwise, the pouch is in excellent shape, with absolutely no rips, holes, tears, or other damage to the crisp khaki canvas construction. Most interestingly, it boasts a fully functional dual darkened brass \"lift-the-dot\" closure flap, sports a fully intact \"male\" brass attachment snap at the back belt slide, and is stamped at the underside of the flap with the classic \"MILLS\" maker\'s logo, along with the date, \"OCT. 1918\".
