Us Army Ww1 Model 1913 Telescopic Musket Sight Sniper Scope '03 Springfield Rare For Sale
The US Army in the early 20th century introduced a telescopic sniper's sight for the M-1903 Springfield. The Warner & Swasey Model 1913 Telescopic Musket Sight allowed the rebirth of US sniping in the Great War, and was used on many different rifles by all Allied nations up through WW2. This US Army WW1 MODEL 1913 TELESCOPIC MUSKET SIGHT '03 SPRINGFIELD SNIPER SCOPE is in good condition, missing the rubber eye cup and the receiver mount, and with some scattered age wear to the black finished body revealing the original brass underneath (ALL pictured). Otherwise, the scope is in fine shape, with absolutely no dents, cracking, or damage. Most interestingly, it remains FULLY FUNCTIONAL, with sharp optics, though the lenses do show moderate spotting and dusting. The original crosshairs remain sharp, distinct, and well centered. It's stamped "TELESCOPIC MUSKET SIGHT / MODEL OF 1913 No. 5039 / THE WARNER & SWASEY CO. / CLEVELAND OHIO U.S.A. / PAT. FEB. 13-06. MAY 22-06. DEC. 15-08." at the side, complete with both of the original, fully intact adjustment knobs, and carries the original "WIND CORRECTION" and "DRIFT" calculation plates at top. The scope is even complete with its original saddle leather carry case in good condition, missing the front closure strap, and with a portion of the top flap having been removed, and the "roughout" interior starting to come loose (most pictured). Otherwise, the case is in fine shape, with no other damage evident. It's stamped with inspector's initials at back, and is marked at bottom with its maker, "G.K." (Graton & Knight Co). The set is a fine example of a very rare, original US Army WW1 MODEL 1913 TELESCOPIC MUSKET SIGHT '03 SPRINGFIELD SNIPER SCOPE.
