US Army WW2 D-DAY PARATROOPER AIRBORNE E-1 GOGGLES 1943 Vtg EXC American Optical:
$19.99

The US military saw the success of German paratroopers in 1940, and quickly set about creating its own elite airborne units. US paratroopers jumped on Sicily in Operation Husky in 1943, and dropped into Normandy during the D-Day invasion in 1944. Those \"devils in baggy pants\" adopted various equipment to meet their needs, including the compact E-1 goggles, which were ideal for protecting against sun and dust. This pair of US Army WW2 D-DAY PARATROOPER AIRBORNE E-1 GOGGLES are in excellent condition, with some scattered dark residue around the bottom leather fringes,an unusual blue and white elasticized middle portion of the head strap,a bit of patina to the metal head strap buckle, some tearing to the front right lens cover, missing the interior right lens cover, remaining fairly stiff and difficult to fully open, and with some light scattered age wear evident (ALL pictured). Otherwise, the goggles are in excellent shape, with no other damage. Most interestingly, they boast green tinted lenses, sport faux fur lined bottom leather fringes, and are \"U.S.\" marked at the interior right side, along with the \"AO\" maker\'s mark of the famous American Optical, and the date, \"1943\". A beautiful example of rare, original US Army WW2 D-DAY PARATROOPER AIRBORNE E-1 GOGGLES. No case included.
