US M1911 Wool Sweater from the Pershing Expidition into Mexico after Pancho Villa. The sweater is in very good condition, showing some were spots near the cuffs & waist. It has a moth hole near the collar (see photo), but it doesn’t detract from the sweater.
The M1911 sweater was adopted September 1, 1911 on the recommendation of the Cavalry Board. It is a pullover with a high collar, 3 button neck & 2 waist pockets. It is made of 80% wool & 20% cotton. A rare & seldom encountered cavalry item, that was still worn into WWI.
