Us Model 1860 Cavalry Sword C. Roby Chelmsford Mass For Sale
Up for offer is an original US Model 1860 cavalry sword in very good condition. Its unsharpened 34 and 11/16 inch blade is marked US 1864 A.G.M. on one side and C. ROBY W CHELMSFORD MASS. on the other side. Pommel is inspector stamped M or W. Blade has some oxidation spots and has dark patina spots. Brass handle has mustard patina, has no cracks and maintains its form. Wood grip maintains 80% of its original leather cover which has some damage areas, and maintains its wire wrap is in excellent order. Handle is tight on the blade with no play or movement. Scabbard is long and appears that it may be for a model 1840 cavalry sword. Scabbard has no dents, has oxidation, and has dark patina. A nice original US Model 1860 cavalry sword!
