Federal Electric (Federal Sign & Signal and presently Federal Signal) 1940's Navy Klaxon Horn Type H8 For sale here is a Federal H8 Navy Klaxon circa 1941-1942, popularly employed as the dive horn on submarines and as cease fire alarms on other Navy ships. This horn is one of the earliest H8 styles Federal ever made. The complete model number is 1C/H8S4. These horns were used on both submarines and surface ships and I cannot be certain this horn came from a submarine. The model (H8) is consistent with the models used on WWII submarines. The other model is an H9 but most authorities indicate the H9 model was not used on WWII ships. I purchased this horn a number of years ago in San Francisco, CA. I supect that it was somehow tied to Mare Island Navy Shipyard. There have been no changes to the item since I purchased it and so far as I know it is in original condition. I have tested it prior to listing and it is working. I do not charge handling fees and shipping is free. Email any questions..
