USA, Scott Catalog Nos.709,711, making up 10c rate on pale yellow cover, with fine duplex cancels, sent on the first official return flight of Imperial Airways from Baltimore back to Bermuda, arriving on March 21st, 1938 at St.Georges, (FF4). This timing represented a significant delay, the first official Imperial Airways Bermuda-Baltimore service already having been inaugurated over five months earlier, on 17 November, 1937 (FF2). Cover is sealed without insert, and fully backstamped. Very attractive and clean, with no faults. Superb cover, only five recorded. with fine slogan arrival handstamp. Imperial airways did not seek US nor Bermuda Post Office recognition or cachets for this flight, but a small number of covers were prepared by alert collectors. Unusual and scarce, seldom seen as such.
