LAST CHANCE!!!THANK YOU FORYOUR INTEREST IN MYsale
YOU ARE LOOKING AT AN sale FOR A VERY UNUSUAL PIN
VIETNAMESE COMBAT JUMP WINGS
I was a member of 3rd Force Recon Co. from it's beginning in November of 1965 til the end of my enlistment, 16 months later, February of 1967. In that time, I learned how to be a Force Recon Marine and just what it means to be a FORCE RECON MARINE. Truly an honor to serve.
3rd Force was formed in 1965, to provide the Marine Corps with replacement SPECIAL RECON capabilities in the growing Vietnam conflict. The unit served honorably and courageously through the Viet Nam conflict, winning many UNIT CITATIONS AND AWARDS, it's approximately 750 members were awarded...
(1) MEDAL OF HONOR,
(3) NAVY CROSS'S,
(11) SILVER STARS
(6) BRONZE STARS
PURPLE HEARTS BY THE BUNCH!
Over the period of about five years, until the Company was disbanded at the withdrawal of US forces from Vietnam in 1970. That's quite an impressive number of awards, for that fewmen, over that short period of time.
Everyone has heard about Special Forces, Green Berets, Army Rangers, SEALS, SOG and Delta Force. There's been all kinds of movies and stories about the thrilling exploits of these troops. AND I'm not taking a single thing away, from all those gallant soldiers. The reason being, as a Force Recon Marine... the only REAL SIGNIFICANT DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ALL OF THEM, ALL OF US... WAS THE UNIFORMS THEY WORE. Different uniforms was the only real difference. Force Recon went to the SAME SCHOOLS, received equally, if not moreintense training by USMC instructors and their own Company Leaders.Force Recon performedmany of exactly the same missions, as the other highly regarded units mentioned.
The only other thing... NO ONE EVER MADE A REAL MOVIE ABOUT FORCE RECON!
From that time, I have a pair of MINIATURE VIETNAMESE JUMP WINGS. The original wings, were only issued to menthat made COMBAT JUMPS in VIETNAM.
These VIETNAMESE JUMP WINGS WERE AWARDED TO THE ARMY, NAVY and AIR FORCE AS WELL AS MARINES.
They haven't been made since the war ended. Luckily, I managed to hang on to a few of these.
So, it's not likely you'll find anything like these wings ......anywheres close by.
I seriously doubt that Vietnam is issuing these anymore, much less...even making these!!
These wings are actually, QUITE WELL MADE. They are about 1 3/8 inches wide and 3/8 inch tall.
They attach with two clutchback pins and clips.
They are polished brass, still brilliant in color with absolutely no flaws.
If you like these...
You could make these YOURS!!!
All you have to do is offer!!Now..if YOU have any other information or data on this piece and would like to share it, I'd be more than willing to pass it on to any possible NEW OWNER. Please feel free to contact me.
That's about all I can tell you about this UNIQUEVIETNAM collectible.
If you collect MILITARY ITEMS,WAR PIECES,
or just want a good lookingMINIATURE SET OF JUMP WINGS for YOURSELF...
You could add this uniquepiece to your collection.
