Ultra-rare Winged Hussar Officer's Zischagge Helmet Ca. 1640s 100% Original :
Fabulously rare and complete Polish Winged Hussar officer's Zischagge from the period of the Thirty Years' War, about 1618 - 1648.
Ex-Tom Greenaway Collection. Tom ran Blunderbuss Antiques in London, Englandfor decades and put together an unrivalled collection of helmets.
This helmet is 100%, even the wings are correct and original.
Lots of extra details suggests this is an officer's helmet -- such asthe fluting to the bowl, the finish to the heads of the bolts, extra design elements to the ear guards, and the detailed crisp cut out hearts, diamond, clovers and barbellsonthe wings.
It is the finest specimen I have ever seen, andis superior to onesI have seenin collections in Warsaw,Cracow and New York.
Light surface rust in places but does not detract. Looks like all original hardware and original leather tongues.
Stem to stern measures approx. 16 inches and 16 inches tall. It is a large and very impressive piece.
