Uncle Scrooge and Donald Duck (1965 Gold Key) 1 PR 0.5

Publisher: Gold Key
Published: June 1965, Original Cover Price: $0.25

# on cover: 30026-509. 25c. A 68-page giant size comic with non-slick paper covers reprinting a variety of Donald Duck and Scrooge McDuck stories including two long classic stories by the grand old Duck man, writer/artist Carl Barks: "Only A Poor Old Man," (from Four Color #386) in which Scrooge, Donald, and Huey, Dewey, and Louie move Scrooge's money to a new hiding place when the Beagle Boys start construction in the lot next to the money bin (This story has the famous Scrooge McDuck philosophy: "NO man is poor who can do what he likes to do once in a while! And I like to dive around in my money like a porpoise! And burrow through it like a gopher! And toss it up and let it hit me on the head!"), and the Four Color #29 reprint, "Donald Duck and the Mummy's Ring" in which a mysterious ring with three serpents on it lead Donald, Huey, Dewey, and Louie into a perilous adventure to Egypt. Issue also has three untitled Donald and Scrooge stories and two one-page gag strips. The gag strips are by Barks and story/art credits are unknown on the untitled stories. NOTE: This comic is very rare in the higher grades. This saddle-stitched (with three staples) reprints Four Color #386 (Uncle Scrooge #1) and the first story from Four Color #29. Rather than being printed on slick paper, the cover is newsprint. Gold Key briefly experimented with newsprint covers on several of their giant comics and Uncle Scrooge and Donald Duck #1 was one of them. As might be expected, the results were less than satisfactory, and the experiment was soon dropped.

Item Grade/Condition

Grade: PR 0.5
INCOMPLETE. Missing one page. Interrupts art and story. 7" & 1" tear on front cover. No back cover. 5" cumulative spine split.

Grade Definition: POOR (0.5 PR, Overstreet 5)
Comics in this grade are sometimes brittle, and may be incomplete, with missing pages. If incomplete, we will note that fact with a notation such as "Story pages missing", "Ad page missing", "Coupon cut out", etc. Most comic books in this grade are easily identified by a complete absence of eye appeal.

For more information about this grade and other grades, please see our grading standards.

IMPORTANT: Please read this before buying
  1. Item Availability:
If we are unable to supply an item due to an error in our inventory, we will promptly issue a refund to your PayPal account. Our fill rate is 99.5%; good, but not perfect. We work hard to keep our inventory accurate, but with millions of collectible comics in stock and thousands coming in and going out each day, some mistakes are inevitable. Also, please note that in the unlikely event that we send you an incorrect issue, we will refund your purchase price (return may be required at our discretion), but we do not send out replacement copies, so any replacements would need to be purchased as part of a new, separate order. Please do not order from us if you require a guaranteed 100% fill rate, or if these terms are not acceptable.

  2. Grading Errors:
We have forty years experience grading comics and we take pride in our grading (see our grading standards). Our positive response attests to the quality of our grading and service. However, in the weekly grading of thousands of comics, occassional grading errors occur. Interior defects like a missing page or cut-out coupon can be particularly tricky to catch. Should you experience a misgrade, we ask that you contact us and give us the opportunity to correct our error: phone 817-860-7827 Monday-Friday or message us through .

  3. All payment must be made via Paypal:
Your PayPal account lets you pay by credit card or by eCheck, directly from your bank account. Orders paid for by eCheck may be delayed by up to four days while PayPal waits for the funds to clear your bank.

  4. We ship only to the shipping address on file with PayPal when you place your order:
We cannot ship to any addresses other than the shipping address that PayPal provides us when you place your order on . We're sorry, but we cannot make any exceptions.

  5. Combining orders:
Each time you go through checkout you will be charged for shipping, so if you want multiple items you should click "Add to cart" to add them all to your shopping cart and then pay for them all at once. However, if we receive a new order from you and we have not yet begun processing a previous order, we will automatically combine your new order with the old one and refund you the extra shipping cost. There is no need for you to contact us and request that we combine orders — if possible, we will do it automatically.

However, we process orders daily, so unless your second order comes in very soon after the first, there's a good chance that your first order will have already begun processing and we will not be able to combine it with any further orders. The only way to guarantee that you only pay a single shipping charge is to place a single order for everything you want to buy.

  6. Ordering more than 40 items:
Unfortunately, 's checkout system does not allow orders to be placed for more than 40 items at a time. If you have more than 40 items, each time you go through checkout will bring up the next 40 items that you've bought. If the orders are placed one after another and we have not already shipped your earlier order, we will combine the items into a single order and refund the extra shipping charges.

  7. Bag/Board Policy:
We bag and board all items priced $10 or higher. To keep our prices as low as possible, we do not bag and board most items priced under $10. In our experience, our "nuke-proof" packaging will get your comics to you safely and securely. In the event an item is damaged during shipping, it may be returned for a refund.

  8. International Orders & Customs:
We do our best to assure swift passage through customs and we describe merchandise so as to minimize any customs fees imposed by the destination country. However, we also fully comply with US federal export regulations. We cannot declare less than true value, describe the shipment as a gift, or otherwise misrepresent the nature of the transaction and/or items sent.
