This is a rare and historically significant
United States Flag that was flown
over the U. S. Capitol on January
20, 1969, the date that the Honorable
Richard M. Nixon was sworn in as
the 37th President of the United
A letter from J. George Stewart,
Architect of the Capitol, addressed
to Utah State Senator, the Honorable
Wallace F. Bennett, dated 1/21/1969,
certifies that this Flag was flown over
the U. S. Capitol on 1/20/1969.
It goes on to advise that the Flag will
be presented to Dr. Calvin Kowallis...
The Flag is in the original box, along
with a pamphlet on "Our Flag". One
end of the box has a light blue stamp
from the office of Wallace F. Bennett.
It has been boxed since it was presented
to Senator Bennett.
The Flag measures 3'x5', made of 100%
cotton bunting. The stars are sewn on
and the stripes are double
