Unsigned Arts And Crafts Era Heavy Gauge Copper Humidor Griffin? Lid Finial Nr:
This well-made arts and crafts style humidor is made of very heavy gauge copper. It is about 5 1/2" in diameter at its midpoint, and stands about 6" high to the top of the finial. It is very heavy for its size. It is not signed, and I don't have any idea who the maker is; if anyone does, please let me know. The finial on top of the cover is made of solid copper. It depicts some sort of a mythological winged animal--perhaps a griffin? Three buttress-style feet are riveted to the body with copper rivets. I can't believe that this humidor is unsigned; the quality of the workmanship in it is equal to that of Roycroft, Sorensen, Stickley, Karl Kipp, or van Erp. The only damage is a shallow ding in the top of the body and in the corresponding part of the cover. This dent is the size of a fingertip, but it is so shallow that it is not very noticeable at all. The humidor has an age-appropriate patina.Buyer pays shipping and a nominal handling charge. Shipment by insured USPS parcel post rate. The shipping charge is an estimate. Any difference of one dollar or more between the quoted charge and the actual charge will be happily refunded upon request. .
