You are offerding on an untitled original dry point etchingcreated and signed by Johnstone Baird. The Scottish etcher and engraver Johnstone Baird began exhibiting landscapes and architectural subjects at the Royal Scottish Academy from 1910. During the First World War, he served as an architect with the Admiralty. His architectural experience is clearly apparent in the finest of his printed works, such as this impressive view of a cathedral and clock tower. Baird employed the tall vertical format of this drypoint to great effect in a number of his views.On cream laid paper with margins. Excellent original condition.This is a fine etching which is bright and unfaded, in dark sepia ink, with excellent intaglio ink lines. The image size measures approximately6-1/4 inches by 12-1/2 inches.
