Unusual Antique Japanese Signed Sumida Gawa Pottery Teapot Lg Flowers In Relief
We are pleased to offer this nice antique Japanese Sumida Gawa pottery teapot. The body of the teapot is wrapped around with flowers in high relief and the lid has a bird finial. There is a signature plaque on the back. Most likely this teapot dates to the late 19th century. It measures slightly under 6 1/2 inches from the tip of the spout to the back. This teapot is slightly under 5 1/4 inches tall. Overall the condition of this teapot is good. One flower petal has been broken and reglued ( only fine crack across petal shows ). There is minor wear including minor roughness to the edges of some of the flower petals from age and use and a minor flake on the bottom rim of lid which inserts into teapot. There is some wear to the red paint on the body of the teapot. There is no handle. There are no other chips, cracks or repairs.
