Unusual George Iii Silver Squat Melon Fluted Cream Jug Georgian:
Pretty George III silver cream jug of unusual squat melon fluted form. Fine attention to detail, a thin grooved band runs around the middle with fluting above and below and the fluting continues down the foot rim and under the base in concentric rings to form a daisy effect. A simple but elegant grooved strap handle and curved spout with grooved rim, make this a very attractive. Hallmarked for London 1805, maker's initials TH (there were many silversmiths with these initials operating at this time so it is not easy to confirm the actual maker).
It measures 4 7/8" wide, 5" spout to handle and 2 1/2" high. It weighs 134g/4.3ozt. Condition is very good with no damage and just light surface wear from age and use.
