Unusual vintage sterling silver Hopi overlay rectangular bracelet clasp by famous deceased silversmith Preston Monongye. The design is a peyote bird or water bird. This piece has an open hook clasp on each end. I am really not sure of the function of this piece, but I think that is is a bracelet clasp that would clip onto a leather or silver bracelet band. The only other function that I could think of was a purse strap clip. Regardless, it was made by one of the most famous Hopi silversmiths and could easily be converted to a brooch, cuff bracelet, ring, bolo tie, or any other custom piece of jewelry to your liking. Ca. 1970’s piece is signed with Preston Monongye’s “waterbird” hallmark with a “P” on its chest.

Excellent quality and condition. You can see a faint old magic marker price on the back. Reasonable reserve for this collector’s item.
