Very Clean Motorola Model 79xm22 Bakelite Am/fm Radio For Sale
This is a really cool, lesser seen Motorola bakelite radio, model 79XM22. This is a beautiful radio; as you can see by the photos there is almost no wear to speak of anywhere on the bakelite; it is obvious this thing sat on a shelf for years and was never abused. Original back is in almost new condition; the printing is faded on it, but the back itself is solid, with no dog eared corners or anything. The grill cloth, like the rest of the radio, is in excellent condition, and the dial pointer is straight and true. The right knob controls the dial, and it appears to not go all the way from one end of the spectrum to the other. However the pointer moves very freely and is smooth. Looking inside the case, I can't see any problems. The chrome feature on the top of the radio is bright and shiny, with a few spots where the laquer has worn, but it's basically in pristine shape. Again, let the photos guide you. As for the electronics, I have never plugged this radio in and do not intend to. I'm not a repairman and don't have the tools, equipment or knowledge to know whether I'm causing harm to the radio by turning it on or not. So I'm selling this as non-working. It could very well work perfect, but I don't know so I can't vouch for that. As for the guts, there don't appear to be any tubes or anything missing. The radio measures 13.25" wide by 8" deep by 8" tall. Have I missed anything? Please ask questions if you have them; I'd be happy to answer. Thanks! I will ship this very securely; It's been around 60 years and I assure you I will do my best to make sure it arrives safe and sound. The rest is up to the postal service :OA few notes:1. Local pickup is OK. 2. The cord is original. It is in excellent shape; no dry rot or anything. On Mar-14-13 at 11:31:10 PDT, seller added the following information:

I answered the questions but for whatever reason they did not show up here. So I'm revising the description; also, see photos. I added three new ones that I hope give a clearer indication of color. The radio is made out of dark chocolate brown bakelite. Depending on the light it can look nearly black. In some spots the bakelite looks flat brown; in other spots it looks swirly and in other spots it looks speckled and 3-D; hard to describe but there's a depth to it with the speckles that I assume happened when it was molded? Anyway I hope that gives a clearer indication of the color/appearance. It's pretty neat! Let the photos be your guide too.
