This is for a very nice and veryearly Jacobeansnuff box, its the earliest i have had for awhile, it dates around 1600 and is fashioned from silver and pearl. It has a silver framewith fixed outside hinge, typical of this type of early boxand it is inset with mother of pearl on the base of the box and thelid. The pearl in the lid has been beautifully carved in a very stylised early fashionto show a stagin woods, its very nice and probably depictsthe white hart, an image very popular at the time, the silverhinge has been styled as a pair of leaves.It has the initials EH engraved on the front and it is in excellent condition with no cracks in the pearl, just a couple of tinynicks on the edge of the pearl as shownwear to the surface as shown and light dinks to the silver only,the hinge is intact and working as it should.It measures 75mm (3") x 55mm (2").
