Very Nice U.s. Eagle Head Officer Sword Early 19th Century For Sale
This is a very nice example of an U.S. Eagle Head Officer’s Sword which dates from the early 19th Century and is mounted with two very unusual "Rose" languets. It wears a beautiful large curved blade that measures 33 1/2 inches in length. The blade has survived in wonderful condition with just a little minor surface staining however does continue to wear most of the original bright blue and gold. The gilded brass guard also continues to wear much of its bright gold wash and is crowned with an intricately detailed Eaglehead pommel in addition to the lovely rose motifs on both languets. The beautiful twisted carved natural hilt has sustained some damage over the years and has a bit of play nevertheless could be tightened up in the right hands. The original leather scabbard has survived in very healthy condition and also continues to wear some gold wash on its fittings. Overall measuring 39 inches in length.
