VERY RARE 86 pieces George III BRIGHT CUT Sterling SILVER Flatware Set Georgian:
$5070.07

This sale is fora VERY RARE full 12 place setting of 86 pieces of GEORGIAN STERLING SILVER.

It is very unusual to find a 12place setting of Georgian Sterling and even rare to find one in a Bright Cutpattern - especially in such nice condition - please look at the photos and note the limited wear to the cut pattern, the tips of the spoon bowls andthe ends of the fork tines - just remarkable for 200 year old sterling flatware. It will likely be a long time before another set like this will come available for sale.

The Forks, Spoons and Ladlesare all of the same matching Bright Cut pattern witha blankoval for an owners initials or armorial and allthese pieceshave theLondon Sterling Silver Hallmarks with various markers, include William Eley, William Fearn, Jonathan Hayneand William Chawner dating from the years 1804 to 1828. (please note: logic would dictate that most often there would be engraving inside of the oval and as there is none, thatthey may have been removed, but normally, ifyou look closelyyou can see where the removal has been done; however, I have looked over the pieces andI do not believethere has been any removals -I can not see any evidence of it.)

There are 62 pieces in the BRIGHT CUT PATTERN(Spoons, Forks & Ladles) which include:

12 Forks measuring7 7/8 inches in length - 682 grams

12Forks measuring6 1/2 inches in length (one repaired) -354 grams

12 Spoons measuring 81/2inches in length -698 grams

12 Spoons measuring6 7/8 inches in length -412 grams

12 Spoons measuring5 1/2 inches in length - 208 grams

2 Ladles measuring7 inches in length - 106 grams

The combined weight of only the solid Sterling Silver flatware is 2,460 grams.

Plus - Also included are 24 knives (in a different pattern) which are hallmarked \"I.B\" with a dot in the middle of the I & B for what we believe to be J Bassingwhite reg. in London 1771; however, it could also be for John Booth reg. London 1813 or even John Bull reg. Lond 1790 - unfortunately there is no year letter date and the hallmark next to the lion passant is not clear on any of the knives??

The Knife set includes:

6 Knives measuring10 1/4 inches in length

6 Knives measuring 95/8 inches in length

12Knives measuring7 5/8 inches in length

The combined weight of only the Knives is 1398 grams.

By the very nature of early knives such as these, they tend to show considerable wear and damage to the iron blades and these knives are no different.

All the kniveshaveiron bladeswhich have pitting and thereis dentingto the handles plus one small split to one of the handles.

The knives handles areengraved with an armorial onone side of the handles, to me I would say is similar to a crown of three banded feathers?
