NOTE: The lamp is shown with a variety of shades so that we could photograph it while illuminated and give you an idea how it might look with a shade of your own. The light bulb, shades and uno collar are not original to this lamp and arenot included.

This is the exceptionally rare Frankart Model No. 1 floor lamp designed by the prolific designer, sculptor and inventor, Arthur von Frankenberg. It is one of only a handful thought to still exist today. The lamp was designed during the earliest years after he founded Frankart and is believed to be the first of his designs in floor lamps. At that time the world was fascinated with recent discoveries made in Egypt and the design influence is unmistakable in this piece.
The solid copper lamp riser is designed to loosely resemble the Egyptian hieroglyph \'Ankh\' which represented \'eternal life\' to ancient Egyptians. The circular base appears to be crafted of mahogany which is stepped in two levels and supported by a footed metal plate. That plate was forged with the Frankart name and the Model number of the lamp (please see the photos).
Arthur von Frankenberg at work in his studioThe lamp is in remarkable condition with light patina to the copper and only minimal surface wear. There is a single ½\" ding on the back side of the copper standard as shown in the photo above. The wooden base is also in great condition with only moderate wear to the original lacquer finish.The lamp was recently rewired with a new lamp cord and plug and retains the original 3-way rotary socket. The lamp is in great working condition as shown in the photos but, as always, Buyer is encouraged to have the item inspected for safety by an electrician or lighting specialist prior to use.
