Very Rare Usmc Marine Wwi Mills Model 1903 Cartridge Belt For Sale
DESCRIPTION: .........MORE PHOTOS BELOW........ Fresh out of the foot locker of a WWI vet that was "over there". A very rare USMC cartridge belt. Research indicates, and to the best of my knowledge this is a Mills Model 1903 USMC cartridge belt for the 1903 Springfield rifle thathas the post 1905 improvement of puckered cartridge pouches to protect the belt from the pointedSpitzer 306 bullets. This is thepredecessor to the M1910 USMC belt. These 1903 belts were apparently issued and usedearly in WWI by our Marines. The end tab of this belt is stamped Patented Mills Jan 28,01 - March 29, 04 - April 18, 05 - May 21,07 and July 16, 07. Also has some company info on the reverse. Length is approx 47.5" with 3 5/8" nine cartridge pouches with a divider for two clips. Snaps are stamped Pat July 30, 07, and have the EGA logo. You can see from the photos below that some of the corners of the flaps of the pouches have minor fraying from use, several have none. Belt is tan and has a nice patina from use. All snaps function.
