Very Rare 1880s Antique Victorian Stick & Ball Foldup Daybed Predates Murphy Bed:
The first Murphy bed was introduced in 1918 but this foldup daybed was manufactured by the Kenesha Crib Company in the mid 1880s (the company only existed under this name between 1882 and 1892). It has a wood frame and metal mesh wire mattress holder plus and intricate iron mechanism which allows it to open and close. The wire mesh mattress holder has been reenforced with wire (a late addition). It has two arms at the top to allow for draping the head of the bed canopy style. There are some rods missing which are available for replacement but by and large the bed is stable and the iron mechanism is working perfectly. The company's emblem is on the top of the headboard. This is a very rare and collectable piece of furniture. This is a perfect bed for a child transitioning from a crib. The lace in the photos IS NOT included with the bed. Measurements are approximate (but close) as the bed is currently securely wrapped: closed 72" high x 33" wide x 16" deep; open 64" long x 33" wide Because of size, this daybed is for pickup only.
Please don't hesitate to email me with questions. I try to answer same day as received and I'm The Boring Stuff
Almost all the items I list are antique or vintage. I always try to point out the flaws but it is also to be assumed that unless it says "mint" that there will be signs of age. I am also a novice photographer so if the exact color is of paramount importance, I suggest you email me so I can tell you how "true" the photo color is to the item (it's usually pretty close).Foreign buyers need to be aware that I do not include customs or duty charges. Please note that many of my items are light enough to be shipped first class mail which is very reasonable, but I can't track or insure first class mail. If you select First Class Mail you do so at your risk. This is a final sale unless I have inadvertently misrepresented this item.Final payment is expected within 5 days unless prior arrangements have been made. Beyond 7 days I file a non-payment case with the 's resolution department. I'm really sorry to have to do this but a number of buyers have either been very, very slow or after weeks of non-payment have canceled transactions. Contact me if you are offerding on multiple items as I can extend payment time to accommodate combined shipping.I am happy to combine shipping. I automatically include insurance on all items valued at $100. or more as long as they are shipped via priority mail. Please note: Your NUMERICAL response counts as it effects the fees that sellers pay . If you can't rate me straight "5s", ( considers "4s" to be substandard) let me know what I can do to earn that rating. PS: Just so you know, giving ratings of 1 or 2 can potentially block a seller from continuing to sell on .I hope you will visit me often as I will attempt to add things frequently. I know I have things that will work for millinery, doll clothes, clothing design, handbags, fabric design reference and lamp shades among many more.
