Hi, thank you for having a look at my items. This week we have listed over 100 Sterling Silver, Continental Solid Silver and Silver Plate sales. You just never see this many great and rarely seen fresh estate pieces like this come up for sale all at once. Up for sale with is a really gorgeous and fine quality pair of Late Georgian or early Victorian Silver Plate Champagne or Wine Bottle Coasters or Decanter Slides. The Coasters are of quite a large size, easily holding a full size bottle of Champagne or a Large Decanter as seen in our photos. The Coasters shows wear throughout to the Brass base metal, but it actually looks like the Coasters are Gold Gilt and lends a very rich look to them in my opinion. The Bottoms of the Coasters are carved wood, Mahogany I believe and they show nice age shrinkage as you want to see but are also still solid with only the most minor looseness (they do not fall out). The Coasters are unmarked, but a lot of early Victorian Silver never was marked and judging by the quality they were made by a fine period Silver company. The Cast fancy designs around the top are applied in sections, the lines you see in the photos are original and not cracks, there is no cracks throughout. The Coasters are as I said larger than most I see measuring 5-1/2" across by 2-1/2" tall. Just a lovely pair to use and display or they would make a fine and unique gift.
