Here we have an original ~ VICTORIAN SILK & LACE BLACK BONNET HAT ~ that was recently acquired out of an estate. We\'re not exactly hat experts by any stretch but believe that this is a Civil War era ladies mourning bonnet?. I\'m sure the collectors will know more about this than we do but we\'ll do our best to describe it. It is certainly a good early original example that came out of a nice early wealthy estate in Grosse Pointe Michigan. The main black fabric is silk and the surround has exquisite black lace. There is also some very subtle green velvet accents. Please understand we are selling it as found from the estate. The little fold you see on the brim is not a repair or damage simply a crease in the fabric. There is some expected wear and damage as you can see but considering how old it is actually not too terribly bad. It displays beautifully as you can see, and would make a fine addition to any collection.
