VICTORIAN Solid Silver LARGE TEA CADDY Hallmarked 1891 Sterling NOT ENGRAVED NR
Sheffield: Henry Stratford - 8 troy oz. - SUPERB & RARE
This is an absolutely fabulous and substantial ANTIQUE solid sterling silver tea caddy that was made in Sheffield, England in 1891 by the illustrious Victorian silversmiths, Henry Stratford Limited at their Harwood Street workshops. It has a gorgeous half reeded rectangular shape with plain sides and raised rims.It is NOT engraved .This wonderful piece measures3 5/8" wide by 2 5/8" deep and stands 4 1/8" high. It is VERY substantial - it weighs241.7 grams -over 7 3/4troy oz.
It is in very good condition with less than the usual surface scratching, almost NO dings and NO dents with NO splits or repairs - SUPERB. The hinge is in excellent condition with no play and no spring and the lid fits snugly. It is hallmarked to the base withH.S, crown,lion passant (sterling silver assay mark),Yshowing that it was hallmarked in Sheffield in 1891. I have shown the hallmark so that you can make up your own mind. The lid is also hallmarked lion passant, HS. A really rareANTIQUE VICTORIANtea caddy in superb condition after over 120 years!!! This is a very rare piece indeed!! Postage will be 5.50GBP both within the UK and to international destinations.
