Randall #15 "Airman"
5-1/2" Tool Steel Blade
Green Tenite Handle
Early Version w/ Non Exposed Tang**
Johnson Riveted Splitback Sheath / No Stone
Randall Made Knives Carry Case
Summary: for consideration, an old Vietnam Era Randall model 15 with green tenite handle and Johnson riveted splitback sheath. This Randall 15 has a 5-1/2" tool steel blade, brass hilt, and green tenite handle with non-exposed tang. Overall length of the knife is 10". The knife is paired to a Johnson riveted splitback sheath (era correct but not the original) that is missing the stone. The original owner's name "Bernard L. Weidner" is shop etched on the back side of the blade.Condition: quite nice, considering the age of the knife and handle material. The Randall trademark is crisp and clean, you'll find peppering on both sides of the blade, patina on the brass hilt, and light handling marks on the tenite handle. The tenite has shrunk a bit, common for this material.**Reference: "Knives of the United States Military in Vietnam" by Mike Silvey. On page 68, there is a similar Randall 15 with green tenite handle and non-exposed tang. The Johnson riveted splitback sheath is in good shape, stitching is fine and is not rotted out or fraying. The leather is supple, obviously conditioned at some point. The Randall trademark on the front belt loop -- the sheath exhibits light handling on both sides. No stone in the pouch.12 photos for review -- as shown, a black Randall Made Knives carry case is included. This is a very early green tenite handled Randall model 15 that would be a very nice addition to any Randall or Vietnam Era knife collection... up for grabs with . Thanks and good luck.
