Vintage / Mid Century Murano / Empoli Hand Blown Glass Table Lamps :
There either Empoli or Murano.I really appreciate the emails I received from members trying to be helpful identifying who made these.I received 3 email's that said these were made by Empoli and one from someone who said they were Murano because they used to work there.I think there Murano based on the information provided. She said there from the 1950's and Empoli actually copied this design from Murano and there's very few original Murano lamps like these. Most are Empoli. These came with expensive silk shades and Empoli didn't use silk shades.Next is the color.I thought they were charcoal because I've seen other Empoli lamps this color but she said there a dark green not charcoal and I think she might be right.I can't see color real well but I've shown these to several people and everyone said there dark green.Nobody got charcoal.I'm just not sure.In some pictures they look darker and that could be charcoal or is it a deep plum or purple?? In other pictures as you can see they look green. She also said she didn't know if Empoli used a metal piece under the base but Murano did (see picture) so I took the piece of felt off and there is a metal piece under the base. That's why the always seemed heavier than they should. And finally she said the older Murano glass was thicker and maybe that explains why it's so hard to figure out what color these lamps actually are.The glass is crystal clear and scratch free. These have the double bubble and there's also straitens that run the length of the glass. There's not any rust or dents on these bases but there's areas where the chrome has worn thin or is completely off.I also took both felt pieces off that were originally on these and they need new ones. The shades are around 60 years old and are not worth the price to ship them so they're not included. The harps and finials come with the lamps. One lamp has the original plug and the other has a replacement but both work fine. There 35" tall to the top of the finial. The glass body is 18" tall and it's 27" to the light socket.I've seen a lot of hand blown glass lamps but there's something about the glass on these that's really special. There as nice as you can find no matter who made them and will be sent in two separate well packed boxes insured for $200 each.
