VINTAGE 1888 GAR 22nd NATL ENCAMPMENT COLUMBUS OHIO BUCKEYE MEDAL & RIBBON

VINTAGE 1888 GAR 22nd NATL ENCAMPMENT COLUMBUS OHIO BUCKEYE EDAL & RIBBON. This listing is for an authentic vintage GAR (Grand Army of the Republic) 22nd National Encampment, 1888 Columbus, Ohio medal and ribbon. The bronze, pin-back top suspension bar is inscribed "Columbus." Below that is an oval inscribed "1888", flanked by olive branches. Two bronze suspension chains support a bronze buckeye inscribed 'G.A.R.". The buckeye is hinged and opens to reveal a profile bust of General U.S. Grant on one side. This piece is MISSING the opposite side inscription "Twenty Second National Encampment G.A.R.L Columbus, Ohio Sept. 11, 1888". The badge is backed with a yellow, swallow-tail ribbon (ribbon has wear as seen in photos). The medal is in very good condition (some wear to the buckeye as seen in photos); hinged lid in very good working condition; piece is intact and solid. The buckeye section has a diameter of approx. 1-1/4" and the medal with ribbon measures approx.3-1/4" as it appears. When item is packed SECURELY for shipping, it weighs 12 ounces.
