Vintage 1920's Concertone Parlor Guitar-solid Koa Body & Abalone Purfling For Sale
VINTAGE 1920 'S CONCERTONE PARLOR GUITAR WITH SOLID KOA BODY & ABALONE PURFLINGLast week I listed a beautiful, solid cherry Concertone parlor guitar by Lyon & Healy for Montgomery Ward. This is a solid, old growth koa Concertone parlor guitar by Slingerland for Montgomery Ward.An elegantly made guitar with snowflake and dot MOP fretboard inlays, reddish gold old growth koa back and sides, and exotic abalone purfling around the soundhole and the perimeter of the top. Beautiful bone bridge pins. The fretboard and frets show plenty of wear-there are divots in the board and a tight crack between the nut and fret # 1. Still very playable, however. Reverse gear tuners work well.Action at the 12th fret is over 3/16" and under 1/4". The neck angle is not perfect but not badly off either. There is a lot of strumwear/pickwear under the soundhole- please see pictures. Cracks on the back-please see pictures. No cracks on the sides.A professionally repaired split in the neck heel. Non-professional glue job at neck heel body interface and at fretboard extension over body. The neck is firmly adhered to the body and the bridge firmly adhered to the top. The bone saddle is original and has a chip at the high "E" string. Still works though. There is evidence of a tailpiece having been on the guitar at some point.A very attractive instrument that is playable. Please see all the pictures for a good representation of the guitar's condition.Comes with case shown in photos.12 3/4" (32 cm) wide across lower bout. 24 1/4" (616 mm) scale length from nut to saddle. 2 5/8" (67 mm) string spread at saddle. .Payment due within 3 days of sale end please.
