standingpilot Store VINTAGE 1920'S LYON & HEALY
PARLOR GUITARVintage 1920's Concertone parlor guitar by
Lyon & Healy for Montgomery Wards.Heavy on the good looks with a great blues vibe. The fretwire saddle makes for a bright sound
that's nicely balanced by beautifully aged, warm
Cherry tonewoods. The combination of the two
results in a very nice sounding blues fingerpicker. The action is 3/16" at the 12th fret. String spread
at the saddle is 2 5/16". Currently strung with nylons but I think with the
nickel tailpiece it can handle light gauge steels.
I've played it with some light gauge steel Elixirs
and it sounded great. The neck shows pretty minimal relief and the neck
angle is respectable. There's a very small gap at the
neck heel cap that I think is from wood shrinkage.
I don't think you could slip a business card into it.
The neck heel is tight to the body. There are a three cracks on the top that are
stable-they don't flex under thumb pressure. No cracks on the back or sides. There is some
finish wear as you would expect but nothing severe. One area of purfling at the treble bout butt end is
a little gnarly - its about 2" long. Please see photos.Reverse gear Waverly tuners are marked on the
underside - Waverly, New York. They work
very nicely.12 3/4" wide at the lower bout. About 37" long.Comes with original bottom loading case shown in the pictures.
Worn but structurally sound and fully intact. Please see all photos for good representation of
the guitar's condition. .Payment due within 3 days of sale end please.
I will ship UPS Ground where possible. Shipping
to Canada will be $46.75-please wait for a
revised invoice. Thanks for looking.
