Neat OLD OAK RIDGE TENNESSEE - THE ATOMIC CITY PENNANT BANNER. This is from the secret city of the 1940s. Incredible story of secrecy and underground facilities during the MANHATTAN PROJECT years of the mid - 1940s. This appears to be an early date pennant from this place. I am trying to find out when it was first publicly called \"the atomic city\". Obviously not before the end of the war, but was it immediately after or was it several years later. Anyone out there know? Great vintage item. Cool looking collectible piece!

It is approx. 24\" long (excluding tassels, if any).

I ship 99% of these in bubble envelopes and bend/fold them usually only once (if over 12\"). Often there is a fold somewhere already on the pennant, so I fold on the already existing fold.If it is likely to leave a fold mark I stuff tissue paper at the fold to minimize any permanent mark/wrinkle.

Ifwe could only go back, heading down Route 66, mid-July, dad at thewheel of the sedan, smoking cool and casual with the windows down,wearing a collared white shirt complete with necktie. His hat,of course, seated comfortably beside him and wife next, pointing outthe lovely flowers in the fields. She is clutching the newKodachrome and frequently convinces Henry to pull over from time totime so she can take a picture. Johnny and Susie in the backseat tired of the ride, but thrilled that dad bought them each a sodapop (in the bottle of course) and a cool pennant with an Indian on itat the last stop! Oh, if we could only take that trip one moretime!
