Vintage 1950s/60s Thomas Mercer St Albans 2 Day Marine Chronometer - Working:
VINTAGE 1950s/60s THOMAS MERCER ST ALBANS 2 DAY MARINE CHRONOMETER - WORKING
Chronometers changed the World we live in by literally giving birth to the Age of Exploration and for offers today we have one from oneof the best in the business, Thomas Mercer.
Most likely made in the 1950s/60s (serial number 25170) this chrono features a silver dial with blued hands, sub-seconds dial and a regulation dial at the top.
As you can tell from our pictures this piece hasbeen in storagefor some time and does have discolouration/corrosion to the movement and case as well as a couple of spots to the dial.
Despite this it has been running very precisely which may be due to the fact that the previous owner put the chrono to Mercer for an overhaul (as it was in a "damned mess") before they put it in storage.
As usual there's no documentation for this and we cannot guarantee the clock's time keeping, all we can say is that at the moment it's top notch.
Other notes on this piece would be storage dust in the nooks and crannies of the box as well as wear to the exterior asthe pictures show.
In total the box for this chronometer is 16.5cm highby 18.5cmwidewhile the instrument itself is 12.7cm across
