This sale is for a beautiful and rare Chinese Canton Famille rose, export plate. The border is gold plated and intricate with a thick border of flowers. The elaborate border contrasts with the central theme which is simple and elegant with attention to detail as in the background wall. There are three women in the garden and two of them are looking at a letter, perhaps from their husbands who are seeking their fortune at the gold mountain, California? There is a red seal in Chinese at the back of the plate.

The plate measures 10 ½” across.
