Handsome Animated Black Baby Parrot Pin.
Starting with a gilded frame, it's body is enameled in rich black, (white spots are light glare) and it's eye an emerald green cabochon.
It's sparkling wings and tail feathers are vintage Swarovski Austrian crystals.
It's beak and feet are gilded like the branch it perches on.
Measures 2" by 1 /12" inches.

*SPHINX: 1948-2000
Founded in 1948, The Sphinx Company was a renowned British jewelry manufacturing company thatproduced well made,
quality constructed, and beautifully designedcostume jewelry that had the look of real jewelry.
In addition to line of their own designs,
they producedjewelry designs for many creatively talented artists and high end department stores,
in Europe as well as the United States.
They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Sphinx, like a multitude of other jewelry manufacturers
coming of age during the industrial revolution, also imitated the designs of other esteemed jewelry artists.
While those coveted pieces were usually sold for a price only a few could purchase, Sphinx was able to manufacture
a quality made, modern style for it's time product, and offer it at a price the typical working class admirer could afford.
Mark:
“SPHINX” in an oval cartouche with some having a “LETTER AND NUMBER”included
or without the Sphinx name, having only a “LETTER AND NUMBER”in a cartouche.
Unsigned pieces were either for customers who wanted to sellpieces as their own,
because work was produced in a rush to meet demand or because there wasn't space on the design.
Pieces may have either numbers only or a letter and numbers. These were design serial numbers.
The jewelry is now becoming highly collectible since Sphinx ceased operations in the late 1990's.
