VINTAGE DONALD CHINANA - JEMEZ PUEBLO - LARGE BEAUTIFUL POT. IT MEASURES ABOUT 6 1/2 INCHES TALL AND 32 1/2 INCHES IN CIRCUMFERENCE AT THE WIDEST POINT. IT HAS SOME VERY MINOR RUBS ALONG THE TOP RIM (SEE PICTURE 8) BUT NO DAMAGE. IT IS SIGNED ON THE BOTTOM. IT IS VERY THICK CLAY WALLS, IT HAS SMOOTH POLISHING, AND IT IS HEAVY. I WILL PAY TO INSURE THIS PACKAGE.

Donald Chinana was born in 1963 and has been making pottery since 1977. He is a member of the Oak Clan at the Jemez Pueblo. He specializes in stone polished black on red bowls, vases, and wedding vases and is also experimenting with blackware. He digs his clay from the Jemez Reservation, uses natural slip, natural paints and fires his pottery outdoors. He was taught by his mother Anacita Chinana. He is the grandson of Persingula Fragua. Donald uses a polishing stone that was handed down from his grandmother.
