Vintage Judge Mumery Hen Goldeneye Hollow Duck Decoy Michigan Original Paint:
Up for sale is a neat, hollow-carved Hen Goldeneye made by Judge Mumery of Marine City, Michigan, ca. 1920. This is a very rare species for this maker. Mumery is believed to have worked at the Chris Craft Boat factory where founder Chris Smith and a number of highly regarded Michigan makers carved decoys during down times at the factory. This decoy is in worn original paint. It does appear that some over paint has been removed to reveal the original. It retains its original glass eyes and Chris Smith style lead keel. It has had a professional repair to the tip of the bill and touch-up in that area. This decoy was part of the Don Girard collection, and other decoys out of his collection were just featured in the Guyette, Schmidt and Deeter sale in St. Charles. This little decoy exhibits wonderful form and looks great on the shelf. Measures 12-1/2" long; 5-3/4" wide; and 6" tall. Please ask questions or for more pictures. Shipping includes insurance and is higher to Canada. Thanks for looking.
