Vintage Marx Lazy Day Dairy Farm Pick-up Truck, Trailer, And Lithographed Signs For Sale
For your consideration is a Marx pressed steel Lazy Day Dairy Farms Pick-up Truck and Trailer. This boxed set, #875, includes two removable stamped and lithographed signs for the pick-up bed wrapped in the original brown wax coatedpaper. The wheels and tires of the truck and trailer were made by the Wyandotte Toy Co., which went bankrupt in 1956 and was sold to Louis Marx and Co. in 1956 or 1957. Set #875 was issued around 1958. The truck and trailer frames, chassis, and bodies are pressed steel along with the grill. The truck’s rear fenders and those of the trailer are identical, as are the drop down tail gates. The truck has advertising signs on both pick-up doors with the Marx logo in the lower corners. The bottom of the truck and trailer are stamped with the Marx logo. There are some scratches and small chips in the red paint on both the truck and trailer. Paint is missing on the edges of some of the tabs, the hitch, and the bottoms of the signs where they are inserted into the truck bed. Much of the silver paint on the grill is missing. The Lazy Day sign on passenger side is scuffed and looks like the sign was placed on the truck then moved before the glue was dry and there are scratches above the sign. These scratches have surface rust. I have marked some of the photos with an X to indicate where these areas are. The fender joint near the front driver’s side wheel looks separated, but appears to have been factory issued that way. Some of these areas may not appear in the photos but are there. The box is original and has been opened on one end only. There is a puncturethrough one side which is visible in one of the photos. The inside of the box has a corresponding tear, but itdoes not go through the side of the box.
