Is This Vintage Old Pawn NAVAJO MADE Heavy Solid Overlay Sterling Silver Concho Belt.
Made by Navajo Willie A. Yazzie Jr. (Willie the Dipper). Willie Specialized in Silver Overlay Work and began producing in the 1950's. Worked for M.L.Woodard. Willie shared the Dipper Makersmark with his father, but we believe this piece is a little to recent to have been made the Senior Yazzie.
About the belt......
14 Conchos, each Overlaidin Sterling Silver, each with a different Native American Motif.
Motifs include Bear Paw, Sun Face, Kokopelli, Thunder Clouds, Maize and many more. (see photo's).
Fantastic Overlay work by a Master Navajo Silversmith
Beltis35 1/2inches long.
Concho Belt Buckle Center Piece is 2 inches across, the other Conchos are 1 1/2 inches across.
Buckle is Stamped Sterling and has Medicine Man Dipper Symbol, the other Conchos have the only the Medicine Man Dipper Makersmark and tested as Sterling.
Total Weightis HEAVY 168.7 Grams.
InVery GoodVintageCondition with no dents or gouges.Minimal light scuffs can be polished up.
